Tattoo Designs - Symbols of Strength

While you can choose a tattoo design that literally means "strength", as in Kanji, the important thing is to have a design that gives you strength. You can choose from a number of designs as long as the one you choose has a special meaning and significance to you. It may remind you of someone close to you or someone who supported you in troubled times. Maybe someone who was there for you when you were young and from whom you gained strength.

Animal Tattoo Designs

A number of cultures used animal images to give them strength. The animals in their worlds they most admired would be a source of strength, endurance, and courage. By tattooing the animal images on their bodies they hoped to become more like them. Thus the image of a bear or lion or wolf would help the tattoo owners to become more courageous or stronger.
This might apply to you - the person who gives you strength could be represented by an image of a powerful animal, one renowned for its strength and courage.

Tribal Tattoo Designs

Tribal tattoos can evoke images in the mind of tribal battles for leadership, fighting for survival or dominance, hunting wild animals, braving the elements. They can take us back to primitive man when life itself was a gamble and only the strong survived. Whether the tattoos were done as part of a rite of passage, or to denote a position in the tribe or as an animal totem, they were all done crudely which inflicted pain. Just having the tattoo said the wearer was a person of courage because of the pain endured. Indeed, some tattoos were done simply to test a person's ability to endure pain - a test of courage.

Angel or Wing Tattoo Designs

People in the West are a familiar with Guardian Angels and as special messengers from God. Angels are also part of Jewish and Islamic faiths as well as a number of other religions and cultures going back to ancient times. They are usually represented as creatures with wings. An angel tattoo can remind us of strength as we are protected or inspired by these spiritual creatures. Wing tattoos can also act in the same way. Wings can give us a sense of protection, a sense of freedom - as in flight. How many oppressed people or prisoners or those who have lost freedom have dreamed of flying to freedom. Songs have been written about it.

Maybe there is someone in your life you see as your guardian angel, someone who inspires you, lifts you up. Perhaps it is an event - something you saw or did that makes your spirit take flight. A tattoo design of an angel or a set of wings could bring this to mind, to give you strength.

Cross Tattoos Designs

The cross is an enduring symbol of faith, hope and love. It can be used to remind you to have faith when things turn against you. It can be used to sustain you through tough times. It can be used to remember loved ones and to connect to them in spirit to give you strength.

There are other tattoo designs that can give you strength: the crown, a symbol of authority and leadership; the dragon, with its strength and magical powers; texts that are inspirational in themselves or favorite quotes of someone you love or admire. The tattoo design you choose to give you strength may be on public display but the feelings it evokes in you are uniquely yours. This is one tattoo that should be done just for you.

Second Life Fashion Design Tips - Where To Get Started

Designing fashion for Second Life can be a daunting prospects. Lots of residents spend lots of lindens on Second Life clothes, and a sure way to make money is to do the same. The great thing about designing SL fashion is that you can sell the same item multiple times. In fact, you can sell it as many times as you want.

The only tough part is getting started. If you are not a programmer, designer or familiar with photo-editing, you aren't going to feel comfortable, and you won't know where to get started. But don't worry, we've come up with three easy steps you can take to start you on your way to becoming a true fashionista.

STEP 1: MASTER THE IN-GAME FASHION DESIGNER: The first step in becoming a fashion designer in SL is to get used to the in-game fashion designer. Open the appearance tool (either through the top-menu or by right-clicking on your avatar) and you can edit a multitude of different factors of your avatar's appearance. To change clothing, or design new ones, you'll need to get familiar with the texture and color menu's. Once you get comfortable with the in-game designer, you can move on to the next step.

STEP 2: GET PHOTO-EDITING: To move past the simple designs you can make through the appearance editor, you'll need to get some photo-editing software. Though many of these programs can run $300 or more, we've found an alternative that is just as good. If you want to start designing fashion seriously, you'll need The GIMP. (http://www.gimp.org/). This freeware is just as good as the commercial software out there, and there is a very active and helpful community of Gimp users that can help you. Download Gimp and learn how to use some of the features. After you do this, you are ready to move on

STEP 3: GET TEMPLATES: To use Gimp (or other photo-editing software) to design clothes for SL, you'll need some templates. A template is simply a 3-D rendering that can be laid over an avatar. With a template, you can design skins, tattoo's and clothes. To start off with, you should download Robin Wood's t-shirt template. (http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLTutSet.html) This will allow you to create your very first template design: a t-shirt. The template itself is very well done, and by using layers and masks, Robin Wood has created one of the best SL Fashion aides around. Use it.

Of course, there is a lot more to fashion design than what we've told you about. (We've created an excellent fashion design guide which you can find on our website. Just click on the link below.) You can spend a lot of time learning how to create fashions, but in the end, what you want is up to you. Designing clothes for SL residents is not difficult, but it does take knowledge and practice. If you can get as far as step three, you will be ahead of 90% of everyone else in the game.

Most women prefer to have their tats on the rib side, foot, and lower back. These are ideal body parts because the tats can't be easily seen unless the person reveals the body art.

If you're willing to undergo so much pain, the rib side tats are the way to go. If you choose to for a rib side tat, you need to pick a larger design. Most women prefer a tat that starts on the lower stomach and extends to the rib side. You can choose designs with lively and vibrant colors.

Foot

Foot tats are also popular. Did you know that foot body inks don't last long as compared to the tats located in other parts of the body? This happens because a new tat should not be rubbed so you can't wear shoes or tight jeans. The healing process for foot tats is slower and the tattooing is really painful. There are times when infections can occur and if you have diabetes, you can't have a foot tat. The most popular designs are star, flower, and letter tats.

Lower Back

Women love lower back tats. The body arts make them a lot sexier since the shape of their body is enhanced. Female celebrities like Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie now have lower back tats. Still, you don't need to be a Hollywood star to get this body art. Find a great tribal design, butterfly, or any other design that suits your taste. You can download the printable tats and customize them. That way, you can have a unique tat that you can show off!

Sexy tattoos for women are more acceptable these days. The dawn of civilization has somehow diminished the popularity of body inks but in today's modern times, women are more open to tats. Although they are very popular, the new trend is taking effect in the world of tattooing is known as language tattoos.

Although many are not familiar with the language tattoos, they have only begun to take shape. They resemble other designs and styles, even if they cover the muscle known as the language. The ones that cover the entire language, or a single region. In most cases, those who already have them, have chosen their language tattooed a certain color. Whether it's purple, orange, black or blue, language can be a variety of different colors.

The models that are poplar language stars with tattoos, tribal, and other forms and designs that cover an area of the tongue. Stars are popular with the lower area of the tongue, near the end. There are also models that can be further on the language, roughly in the middle of it. As the language ones are becoming more popular, more and more models are being implemented.

Regarding the procedure goes, it is very similar to getting a tattoo on any other part of the body. A tattoo needles involved perforation of the skin, depositing ink on the skin. The hands move very quickly, the breaking of the skin and allowing the pigment of the ink. The language, like the skin pigments swallow once the surface was punctured by the needle. Once the pigments in the ink are absorbed by the language, the color will remain there forever.

Those who had the language ones in the past say they are not very painful. Unlike tattoos on the skin, the language is a giant muscle. A tattoo on the tongue is often described as a sensation of tickling sensation or numbness in the mouth. When the artist does tattooing, it will normally be a tool to keep the language. If you have ever had a piercing language, you know what it looks like. Once the language is, the artist will begin work. The process usually takes very long, as long as you hold still and not move.

If a language tattoo sounds interesting to you, the first thing to do is to find anartist in your area, which is in fact the experience. Not a lot of artists are familiar with the language tattoos, as they have only begun to surface. A language is a little one on the creative side-something that can not be seen every day in public.

Cool Tattoos

Practitioners admit it hurts like hell and speech is initially difficult, but claim that the surprise factor of sticking out their tongues at unwary persons is worth the effort.

For those seeking out cool tattoos getting the tongue tattooed might be too much. Circus carny and graphic designer Curtis McMurty is the person credited with developing a specially patented Tongue-Dyed Tattoo(TM) technology.

And McMurty's innovation doesn't stop with the visual. He claims the new technique has the same durability as any regular tattoo, but has the added aspect of eliciting a specific taste to go with the design. "They come in chocolate, vanilla and garlic. If you really want to shock a person's sensibilities, go for the garlic -- you won't be disappointed."

"I've always been unique. My friends say I'm 'touched.' Now I'm twice as unique!" -- Egrett Emry, tongue tattooer

The first person to have the procedure done was Egrett Emry, who has a depiction of vomit it was a toss-up between that and an "Eat Me" graphic). Emry's roommate acknowledged that Emry's first week after getting it done has been "a real tongue twister. He really sucks at taking phone messages."

Emry later noted in an email interview that, "I've always been unique. My friends say I'm 'touched.' Now I'm twice as unique. If scientists could grow another tongue on me through stem cells, I'd totally tattoo that one, too. Hey, I'm a no-hold-the-bar kinda risk-taking guy."

Emry added that so far all food tastes like burnt flesh. "Don't get me wrong, I've never actually tasted burnt flesh, but I think we all agree on what we think it must taste like, you know?"

About two dozen Californians have supposedly received tongue tattoos at McMurty's parlor in East L.A. In terms of safety, initial research shows that it's no more harmful than swallowing small droplets of mercury.

And in terms of imagery, well, the sky's the limit. McMurty was contacted recently by some Portland, Ore., teenagers who want to tattoo the Nike corporate swoosh on their tongues, "to speak out about the omnipresence of corporate greed."
